What it Means to be a Young Republican
Welcome to our organization’s website. Nebraska Federation of Young Republicans is a group of ‘Young’ Republicans between the ages of 18 and 40, who meet monthly to share in fellowship, discuss Republican values, and to meet with our party and government leaders. Currently, there are four NFYR chapters located in Omaha, Lincoln, North Platte and the Tri-CIty Area (Kearney, Grand Island, Hastings) with each organization containing over seventy-five members meeting on a monthly basis.
NFYR has been active for more than 50 years. It has been a major force not only in local races, but in statewide and national campaigns as well. NFYR has a strong support base of party leaders and elected officials who are former YR’s and continue to recognize the importance of the “Young Republican Experience” in training our future leaders.
A local ‘Young Republican’ organization can serve as a vehicle for locating and recruiting new members into the Republican Party. By meeting as a group to discuss political issues, these new members can refine and enhance their political skills, while also increasing their knowledge of current events. YR groups are also an important source of volunteer support for local county parties, by providing volunteers who possess many talents and abilities needed to get campaign tasks done.
